The New Forest National Park

In 2005, the New Forest area situated south-west of Hampshire became designated as a National Park and in 2006 the New Forest National Park Authority was formed in order to protect, conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the Park and to promote opportunities to enjoy and understand its special qualities.

The National Park reaches from the east of the Avon Valley as far as Southampton Water and extends from the Solent Coast to the border of the chalk downs of Wiltshire; it is one of the last places in the south-east of England to give a sense of wilderness and tranquillity. It is one of Britain’s remaining ‘interludes’, making it an ideal place for a short or longer break.

It is a wonderful area to explore on foot, on horseback or by bicycle as it offers a wealth of picturesque views of flora and fauna that can best be enjoyed in a leisurely manner.
